End of Summer Party

The days are getting shorter, fall is in the air, and there's termination dust on the mountains. Time for a party! SouthEast Alaska Sailing (SEAS) is celebrating the End of Summer 2015 at Rockwell's back room, Saturday September 26th from 6:00-10:00pm. 

We'll reminisce about the past sailing season and plan winter activities. There will be a running slide show of the summer spent sailing and final standings of the SEAS Cup and Spirit of Admiralty races, along with announcements of upcoming SEAS winter events and information on how you can stay involved with the club.

Leg 1 (Saturday) - Starting at 10:00 a.m. between the Committee boat and the Marmion Island Day Mark, proceed north into Stephens Passage, down the back side of Douglas Island, finishing within ½-mile of the small island just past Point Young in Admiralty Cove, on an imaginary line bearing 280 magnetic to Scull Island. Plan to anchor in Admiralty Cove overnight, with beach bonfire (weather permitting).

Juneau Youth Sailing dock haulout

Skipper's Choice #3 Race Results

Despite a gloomy forecast, the weather was actually pretty good for last Saturday's race.  The fog lifted, the rain didn't happen, and the wind steadily built during the day. Shortly after the start (thanks to Thalia for acting as committee boat) the race became a downwind spinnaker run to Point Hilda.  Haiku was first across the start line and led the fleet throughout the race, with High Noon running second.   Asterix very slowly pulling ahead of Thalia on the downwind run and both boats were slowly catching up with Hi
