Preparing to pull and paint
Greetings everyone. First, thanks in advance for your patience with all my questions that will evidence I don't know what I'm doing. I'm learning!
As many of you know, I purchased a 1979 Ericson sloop 25.5 foot sailboat last summer that needs a lot of work before I can take it out. All advice is welcome. Happy to have you drop by (Aurora harbor).
The list is long, but among other things, I am preparing to have the boat pulled and painted, and do whatever work I may need to have done. My short list of probables for work to be done while the boat is out includes: painting hull, putting the numbers and name on, zincs, possibly replacing through-hulls with bronze ones. What other things should I be considering doing?
How do I find the right through-hull fittings? Are they pretty interchangeable or do I need specific ones for my boat?
Are zincs all the same or do I need specific zincs for my system?
What are the problems I might find if the boat hasn't been out of the water for a few years that I should be prepared to deal with?
What materials do I need for painting? best paints?
What might I need that I cannot get in Juneau?
When is a good time to pull the boat for this? I am thinking late April.
Thanks for any advice.
Patti
