The Grand Challenge: Skipper's choice No. 1
Fair skies and light winds made the circumnavigation of Grand Island a great challenge on Saturday. High Noon heads for home in the waning light (see photo) while Haiku, Optiminium, and Thalia waited for wind south of Taku Inlet. Cetus and Tango gave up after light winds stranded them North of Grand Isle. More race details to come as the reports come in from all the boats.
Time to GET OUT THE BOAT (GOTB)
The sails are measured. The oil is changed. The gunk in the bottom of the Racor filter has been removed. What are you waiting for? GET OUT THE BOAT!! This Wednesday, May 7th you cannot use another excuse to let your main and jib fly free and cruise the flooded fault line we know and love as Gastineau Channel. This is it, last warm-up before the first race of the season on Saturday, May 10th. Let's go SEAS sailors and let it fly!
Sail Measuring Completed!!
SEAS Handicapper, Brian Lieb, reviewed all boat ratings at the @360 studio at KTOO. Many of the boats of the SEAS fleet have registered with the Pacific Handicap Racing Fleet of the Pacific Northwest as well (http://phrf-nw.org/). Everyone will be rated and ready to go for the first race of the season on May 10th. Check the race schedule and register for the SEAS cup if you haven't already done so. Also, if you are interested in crewing on a boat, come out to the SEAS BBQ on May 9th at Sandy Beach, or keep an eye on the website and join us on Facebook.
