I was also able to use a cheap HDMI to VGA adapter and get Kodi on my Rpi and my Xbox one to display on my BVM, which I am quite happy about. The VSC 500 manual says it’s a scan converter but I wasn’t sure how it does it’s thing. It’s output signal is 480i, I believe my BVM doesn’t support 480p anyway. So the VSC is downscaling the image to 480i. Does this mean essentially the VSC is converting the image to 640x480. I was wondering does a different input resolution effect the final output image. I wondered if a signal closer to its output format would look better. From Kodi on my Rpi I can set different output resolutions. I have my output now set to 640x480 on Kodi and it looks alright on my BVM but I’m not sure what to expect. If I set Kodi to output a higher res into the VSC I think there is a minor difference in the displayed image. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the best image from the VSC 500. The main purpose to use a VSC is also to convert 480i signals to 240p.
For 4K to 720p signals to 240p I use a HDMI 4K to SDI then SDI to component, the latter of which converts a HD signal to SD. The VSC's can ONLY output 480i, NOT 240p.
